Have you ever met someone who you can believe in? A person who is talented, gifted, blessed? A person who seems to have all of the right moves?
I have. Only one problem. Diagnosis: Bad-luck-itis has a hold on him. Yeah. I said it. Bad-luck-itis.
I've known him for a couple of years. He's shared with me a lot of damn stories. Damn stories. You know, the kind of story that after you hear it and it sinks in... you go: Damn! Yeah. Those kinds of stories.
Got a minute? Okay, okay. Got a few minutes?
Let me start off with this. I need your help. YOU. Yes. You. No, seriously. I do. At the end of this story, you'll see why. No, no, you don't need to mortgage the house. No, the car note is not in danger either. Hear me out. I have a.... story for you. No... not a Damn story. Well, um.. er... maybe.
Meet Dez. (http://facebook.com/dezowhip) Dez is a friend of mine. (Hey! Don't laugh! I have friends!) In late June or early July he let me listen to music that he had created years ago. In Kevin's backyard, where the acoustics get better and better with every empty beer bottle (funny that!).
Only this day, I wasn't drinking. Well, not much, anyway. Dez handed me a CD and I swapped in Dez's CD, replacing Teddy Pendergrass. Well, I had me a good listen. And I did it again. And I looked at Dez with new eyes, as if seeing him for the first time. For a brother with all his talent, it's hard for me to understand why (like most people I know) he's living from paycheck to paycheck.
I told Dez that we could do this. We could get his music published. Well, the jury's still out on whether I should have kept my mouth shut but hey: A promise IS a promise, right?!
Well, on August 21st, I heard Dez's latest song. A brand new one. On the 28th it was mastered and ready for YOU, Dez's adoring public (although you don't know it yet!). Three weeks later, his songs are sitting at all of the popular Online music stores (iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay,CD Baby, BandCamp) and (thanks to Jango- (jango.com) an internet music station) Dez's music is being heard all over the world.
This is where you can help. Can you take the time to give it a serious listen? He'd love to hear your comments on his http://www.facebook.com/dezowhip page!
Be warned that there are explicit versions of his music. Give it a listen. And give the Brother an ear full!
Thank you, ALL,
